Designing Off and On Buttons

While designing your buttons in your favorite graphics software program, take a few minutes longer to add a second step.



There are two methods you can use to make your buttons look like they are being depressed (on and off). First, you can switch the shadowing on them. If the off button has shadowing on the bottom and right side, then the on button can to be shadowed on the top and left side.

Second, you can slightly shift the on button one or two pixels up or down and to the right or left. Click on the "View Live Example" icon above to see the demonstration and compare the difference in the effects.
